The intangible measure NegaWATT: less is MORE! aims to use the increasingly popular strategy of gamification in education to promote the concepts of "negawatt," "energy sufficiency," "energy efficiency," and "renewable energies" through daily challenges using quizzes and voluntary tasks that involve everyday situations and corresponding choices, helping to reflect on the surrounding community and promoting greater environmental awareness, targeting students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education.
In an extremely succinct and reductionist way we can describe the measure NegaWATT: less is MORE! , a playful and innovative way to convey fundamental concepts to students in the 2nd and 3rd cycles of education, also promoting a competition between classes from 60 schools, which will operate on a points system, with points awarded to each participant for their actions throughout the competition.
By participating in this Competition, which will have a digital component but also a physical presence at the school, students and supporters (teachers, parents, assistants, staff) will take part in a competition between participating schools. This competition will operate on a points system, with points awarded for each task, and will allow for energy savings and improved efficiency of energy-consuming systems. It will also raise awareness about the different concepts and consequences associated with energy use and climate change, ultimately awarding prizes to the highest-ranked schools and students.
To find the best classes and schools, students need to use the APP NegaWATT: less is MORE! and all their resources, in order to accumulate negative watts for their classes and schools.
